The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the battle between God and Mammon, the victory is clear for greed in this director's delightfully tacky true story of the disgraced televangelist and her felon spouse. Andrew Garfield portrays the corrupt Bakker, who proclaims initially, asserting religious justification for riches. The couple set about capitalizing on the people's spiritual convictions. It's a spectacle of poor styling, bad makeup and insincerity, however Jessica Chastain succeeds to show Tammy Faye as a sympathetic figure. Tuesday 14 October, late night, Film4
